GENERAL
Q: What Is Mastering?
A: Mastering has two main goals. The first is to audition the different mixes on the compilation (which may have been mixed under different mixes on the compilation or vary in production technique) and produce a balanced sound character for the entire compilation so thath listening experience is consistent and pleasing.
The second goal is to make sure thath the program is compatible with the distribution media and with reproduction systems.

Q: Can I Do My Own Mastering?
A: There are three main reasons to go with a professional mastering studio .
First fresh ears! It's difficult to stay objective after production/ work for so long on a project.
Secondly the equipment that mastering engineers uses (most producers don't have).
Finally the experience! Doing mastering every day of a wide range of music gives an edge for knowing what treatment is needed.

Q: What provides a Mastering?
A: Mastering has become a production tool that plays a definitive role in the sonic character of music. It’s often used in an exaggerated manner to generate a listening experience that is objectively more exit icing and impressive than the original mix.
It will be louder, more balanced, punchier, wider and fuller with more depth.

Q: Do You Just Make It Louder?
A: No, its not only turn up the Master-fader! I understand thath getting a good loud level is very important (these days), but making the track better overall is the main aim! When making your music louder it should be done in a way that does not damage it. Generally I clean up the track before I push it to the limit.
Q: Can I Attend A Session?
A: Of course, we can talk via Skype and look together in a project!

A: You should turn off all master effects on the stereo mix such as compressors and limiters. You can provide me a reference to your master so I can see what you were aiming for though.

Q: How Much Headroom Is Needed?
A: Just make sure there is no clipping on export, 3-6db is a safe range to aim for. Simply lower the master fader enough to achieve this. Don't touch the track levels as this could upset the mix.
